The Bushrangers have re-signed courageous midfielder and leader Ben ‘Bristle’ Trend, as well as securing the services of the silky smooth wingman Micky ‘Gaz’ Gazeas for the 2016 season.
It is understood that the two young stars have attracted much interest from the highly rated Eastern Football League, but both men remain committed to the brotherhood at Doncaster Reserve, and have much to prove after the clubs unsuccessful 2015 campaign.
Trend, already a two-time Best & Fairest winner at the club said, he ‘couldn’t wait to dig his teeth into the upcoming season’, after missing so much of the 2015 fixture due to international travel, and admitted to ‘owing it to my best mates and to having unfinished business’ at the Bushrangers. Bristle also acknowledged that the club had given him so much, and the bonds that he had formed since first stepping foot into the place was too great for him to walk away from.
It was a similar story for Gaz, who declared that the Bushrangers ‘have a mission on where it really wants to go, and I really want to play my role in that’.
‘The club has showed tremendous faith in me, with a senior call up extremely early on in my first season of senior football, and with the culture we are building, I am excited for the future at YVOBFC’.
Both men highlighted that the friendships and bonds made down at the club would last a lifetime.
The Yarra Valley Old Boys Football Club is thrilled to see them return as we embark on a successful 2016 season.
