Yarra Welcomes Back Our Favourite Trend

In 2016 Yarra will see the return of, let’s face it, the truly better Trend (And it’s not Chris) to the role of Director of Football.

Ian Trend, who coached the Reserves at YVOB for 7 seasons, including three finals series and a premiership in 2012, coached his last season in 2014. Despite hanging up the whiteboard, Trendy was regularly involved in the club last season in an unofficial assistant role – helping bridge the gap between an experienced list and a brand new coaching staff.

Ian joined Yarra during a lull in new recruits and on field performance, but alongside senior coaches Andrew Stone and Rob Drew they together re built the club and took us out of D3 and back into D1.

It is with these credentials that Ian is the perfect candidate for the Director of Football role and will also be Chairman of Selectors.

Trendy is well known for his pre-game pump up speeches (I have chills down my spine as I write this), so with any luck we’ll see some more motivational public speaking from the great man in his new role – welcome back mate!
